Grave B32. The date carved on the gravestone is probably a mistake. In september 1917, the South African Infantry Brigade fought in the Ypres Salient. Probably killed in action on the 12th April 1917 in the improvised and disastrous attack of the 9th (Scottish) Division on the German positions in the East of Fampoux. The 4th SAI lost 6 officers and 200 men. |
